His name is listed on the roster of the Sacramento Kings' summer league team, which will participate in Las Vegas starting July 12. The only players with NBA experience on Sacramento's summer league roster are Quincy Douby, Spencer Hawes, and Shelden Williams.

This means former teammates Sonny Weems (Denver Nuggets), Steven Hill (Portland Trail Blazers) and Townes (Kings) will all be in the league at UNLV's Thomas and Mack Center. Townes averaged 12.1 points and 5.5 rebounds during his senior season at Arkansas.

We've been talking about Arkansas LBs for the past few days, so I thought I'd keep up the conversation.

But this time, let's talk about a former Razorbacks LB turned DE.

Jeb Huckeba was out walking around the golf course at Pinnacle Hills on Wednesday, following the group watching Bobby Petrino and John Pelphrey play. Huckeba, who was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the fifth round of the 2005 NFL Draft, said he has thrown in the towel on his football career. His last tryout came with the Dolphins in May. Huckeba said he felt good, but didn't land a spot and decided it was time to move on to other things.

He had been working for Arvest Bank for the past several months, but said he is making another career move as well. Huckeba has taken a job at Rogers High and plans to teach and coach this year. So it sounds like the Searcy native could be sticking around NW Arkansas a little longer.

I was able to catch up with Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino after his round in the pro-am event here at Pinnacle Hills this afternoon. I'll be brief and let his words do the talking regarding the arrests of linebackers Freddy Burton and Wendel Davis in the past few days:

(on the situations) "We've had some things going on that we’re not proud of and we’re certainly going to work to have those not happen again. one of the incidents is real unfortunate and the other is really uncalled for.”

(on if the arrests are frustrating) "It is in one matter. In the other matter, I think it's how you deal with the problems when they come up. It's not if they come up, it’s when they come up. Any time you have 105, 115 players on your team, you’d like to say there’s never going to be any situations. But obviously, they are. We have to deal with them the right way. We have to learn from them as an entire team and staff and try to make sure we don’t make those mistakes again.”

(on the punishments) "Not yet. I always like to take your time. A guy told me a long time ago, when you get to be a head coach, don’t make a decision until you have to. We'll let things play out for a little while. Certainly they’ll be dealt with. Hopefully we can get everything straightened out the right way and whether there’s a suspension involved yet or not, I don’t know. We'll have to wait and see.”

(on the extent of Davis' hand injury) "I don’t think it’s a real severe injury. It's an injury. It's something that should not have happened. We all take a hit when something like that happens.”

If you didn't see it, didn't hear it or didn't catch it, check out Alex Abrams story on linebacker Wendel Davis' arrest in The Morning News by clicking here.

Davis was arrested and charged with first degree criminal mischief stemming from a bizarre traffic incident yesterday. Davis' scooter was bumped by another vehicle. Davis started punching the vehicle, injured his hand and went to the hospital. He was booked into the Fayetteville jail a little later.

The story itself is enough to make you scratch your head. But the other bizarre fact is this: It's the third linebacker with offseason legal problems. And Arkansas doesn't even have that many to begin with.

Freddie Fairchild (Battery and False Imprisonment), Freddy Burton (DWI) and now Davis. Fairchild has been kicked off the team. Burton's status hasn't been announced. Davis' situation is pending. The Razorbacks entered the winter counting on all three to play important roles in a thin group, but the arrests put a kink in the plans.

It doesn't mean Burton and Davis will be dismissed. They might not even be suspended. It might be hard for coach Bobby Petrino to take swift and severe action because of the depth problems. But at the same time, he might need to in order to put an end to all the trouble. It can't be an easy situation for any coach.

But it does make you wonder: What is going on here?

But winning the 2008 United States Women's Open in her first tournament as a professional? Now that's something nobody could have dreamed possible.

Well, excpet for maybe Lewis ...

With one round left to play at Interlachen Country Club in Edina, Minn., Lewis LEADS the biggest major in women's golf. At 9-under par through 54 holes, the former University of Arkansas all-American — who turned pro less than three weeks ago — is on the brink of history.

"It’s been such a great week,” Lewis said after the third round. “Truthfully, I’m not that surprised to be in this position. I always thought I could compete at this level.”

Lewis entered Saturday's round at 3-under for the tournament before carding a third-round 67, the best score of the tournament so far. Now with 18 holes left, Lewis will soon find out if she can do more than just compete on the biggest stage in women's golf.

Arkansas has a new track coach: Northern Iowa's Chris Bucknam.

The news broke earlier this morning when Alex and I were on the football practice field watching some offseason conditioning drills. But now that it's over, it's time to shift focus to Bucknam. He will be introduced during a news conference this afternoon at 3:30.

Bucknam's hire isn't a big secret. He's the one name that slipped out during Jeff Long's coaching search, when Iowa newspapers reported he had interviewed for the position. Bucknam wouldn't say much at the time other than to confirm that he had spoken with Long. He reportedly accepted the job Thursday.

Bucknam had been at Northern Iowa for 26 years and, by all accounts, had done a good job of making the program a well-respected one. Northern Iowa's men's team finished 11th at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reported that Bucknam sent a letter to Northern Iowa's athletes, informing them of his decision this morning. It has a copy of the letter and you can read it by clicking here.

Also, here is a link to Bucknam's bio.

Weems was traded to Denver not soon after being selected by Chicago with the 39th overall pick in Thursday night's NBA Draft.

Seems like a positive event to me after speaking with Weems and his agent, Roger Montgomery. Apparently, the Nuggets had been scouting Weems pretty hard this season. Plus, Weems said he was excited about the prospects of playing in Denver.
